Hydrography
The territory has a network of water courses which covers 700 km, with rivers of two different types depending on the source they correspond to.
We have to distinguish between the rivers from the Atlantic source and those
from the Mediterranean. Those from the Atlantic source are short rivers,
which due to their climate and mountains do not provide a great flow,
although they do have great erosive power, which is accentuated due to their
relative proximity to the sea. The most important ones are:
Ibaizabal,
Nervión, Oria, Bidasoa, Deba, Adour and
Nive.
The rivers from the Mediterranean source have a lower flow, greater length and extension, as well as greater seasonal irregularity. The most important river is the Ebro, as it includes the flows from all the other rivers, among which we can highlight Zadorra, Ega, Arga and Aragón.
