Neolithic
The period which covers from 4000 to 2500 BC.
The revolutionary changes which were produced in this period occurred after
5000 BC. The Mediterranean area assimilated the Neolithic changes related to
agricultural practices and outdoor sedentary habitat, whilst the Atlantic
area continued with the previous uses of habitat in caves and further
developed the livestock activity.
The most ancient material finding made in the territory of Araba shows a material, cultural and most probably, population flow, going back to the Ebro Valley, an area which we can consider as the route of the introduction of the Neolithic.
The arrival of new economic uses and new human groups produced a greater mystification than in peninsular areas, in such a way that the autochthonous communities assimilated new events they considered to be of interest, but on an established autochthonous social base.
