Schedule for Boling's "Guernica" book tour

Dave Boling' is holding a book tour for his historical fictional novel, "Guernica", We've posted a schedule for you to come join in on the buzz. You still may be able to catch one.

Dave Bowling's first fictional historical novel, "Guernica" is out for purchase in bookstores now.  The book also has publishers in Spain, Germany and other places interested. Boling has been selected as a Barnes & Noble “great new writer,” his book will be displayed in a place of prominence in the chain’s stores.

“Guernica” has already earned a favorable review from Kirkus. It also has been mentioned in the Los Angeles Times book blog. Boling’s publishers have scheduled book tours in the U.S. and Europe.  Please see the tour schedule below.

"Guernica” tells the story of an extended family of Basques, a proud minority group with its own language and strong democratic traditions. The Basques have occupied the coastal areas and mountains of north-central Spain and southwestern France for centuries.

Why did Boling, who was raised in Chicago and makes a living as a sports-writer choose to write a book about the Basques?

“Fresh out of college, I married a lovely Basque girl whose grandparents had come from Bizkaia  (in Spain) to herd sheep in the mountains of the American West,” Boling says.  His in-laws introduced him to the pleasures of Basque food and red wine, and tried to teach him their folk dances. They also taught him about their strong familial allegiances and their long history of oppression.

"Guernica" is an epic of love, family and war set in the town of Gernika, before, during and after the devastating and destructive bombing of Gernika during the Spanish Civil War.  The Gernika bombing  is very close to the lives of many Basques in United States.  Many Basques or close relatives in United States were born and lived through the bombing of Gernika and surrounding area.
