3rd International Short Story Contest EuskoSare 2008

Eusko Ikaskuntza's EuskoSare is presenting the third edition of "International Short Story Contest EuskoSare 2008". This is geared to writers from all over the world who wish to write on a Basque theme in Euskara, Spanish, French, or English.

EuskoSare calls upon the third edition of the "EuskoSare International Contest of Short Stories", aimed at writers from all over the world who are willing to write 300 words related to Basqueness, Basque people or the Basque Country. The best work will win €500.

Conditions

1. Participation in this contest is open to writers of any nationality.

2. The submission presented should be written in Euskara, Spanish, French, or English.

3. The submission must be original, unedited, never have received a prior award in any other contest.

4. The quantity of works submitted is not restricted. One can submit more than one work, although with different aliases in each case.

5. The theme of the work should relate to anything Basque, Basque people or Euskal Herria.

6. The work should not exceed 300 words.

7. The submissions should be sent to the following email address: mikronarrazioa@euskosare.org

8. The contestants should send their documents in Word. One document containing the alias name, the title of the work, and the actual short story being submitted. The second document should contain the alias name, the first and last name of the writer, nationality, Identity number, and a telephone and email contact.

9. The deadline to submit is 00:00 hours on November 30, 2008 (time in Donostia-San Sebastian). To avoid possible complications, it is recommended not to send submissions during the last hour of the deadline.

10. Eusko Ikaskuntza will designate members of the organization and members of the literary world who will not know the name of the authors.

11. The verdict of the panel of judges will be published on EuskoSare's website (www.euskosare.org) on December 15, 2008.

12. The dates stipulated in this list of rules are susceptible to being postponed in the event that the number of works submitted exceeds the number expected. This is to ensure that the panel has sufficient time to make a decision.

13. The prize of 500 Euros will be awarded to the short story winner. The panel will be able to award the honorable mentions as well.

14. The award can be declared as deferred if, according to the panel, none of the works possess the required merit. In this way, the panel will resolve any doubts that emerge regarding their competency and whatever situation that was not foreseen in the list of conditions.

15. Eusko Ikaskuntza will arrange the works presented and will always be able to mention the author, publish it on their site and in other media, etc. The authors give up their rights to Eusko Ikaskuntza.

16. The act of participating in this contest implies that the applicant has accepted the conditions of this contest and the verdict of the judge panel.
