All set for the celebration of ENE: Euskararen Nazioarteko Eguna /International Day of Euskara

Eusko Ikaskuntza – Society of Basque Studies celebrates, year after year, the International Day of Euskara on December 3rd. For this reason, it has organized a series of events to celebrate, starting November 15th, to drive and revitalize the universality of Euskara.

The events start with the presentation, via press conference, of five Basque bertsolaris; all of whom are on a videoclip with the five bertsolaris in a song. Xabi Paya, Sustrai Kolina, Oihane Perea, Uxue Alberdi and Jose Juan Zubieta have created two verses over various themes with Euskara being the jewel of this event. At the same time, they have elaborated 10 verses which talk about emigration and euskera, its presence in daily life, its heritage value, its worldwide use and the revindication with the youth.

The verses recited in Euskara have been translated to English, Spanish and French and are available for viewing the webpage of Eusko-Ikaskuntza, the Euskomedia webpage as well as Euskosare.

At the same time, different radio programs will be aired all over the Basque Country, in which some of the bertsolaris will partake.

With the goal of covering all these events, as well as transforming itself as an interactive space of exchange of opinions can be given in regards to the bertsolaris as well as the videos, articles and other publications associated with Euskara, with the first remarks of this language and its actual situation.

On December 3rd,  Euskosare will announce the winner of the annual ENE award, given to the institution outside the Basque Country which has intensely worked in support of Euskera.

As a culmination of the organized  events in regards to this celebration, Eusko Ikaskuntza will celebrate the 8th of December on the Kafe Antzokia in Durango a meeting with the bertsolaris taking part on the videoclip. To the event, Eusko Ikaskuntza invites all its members as well as any  other volunteers who would like to meet.

Euskonews digital magazine wil concede an special place on it for the International Euskara Day, on which could be possible to find all the initiatives and acts proposed from Eusko Ikaskuntza.
