EuskoMovie: First Short Film Contest at EuskoSare
EuskoSare has started its motors up for the first on-line short film contest. The film work is to be recorded with a mobile phone or a photographic or video camera. One’s own imagination takes over after this.1.200 Euros in prizes will be awarded. From this point, we encourage you to take part in this friendly contest which is open to everyone. EuskoMovie 2008 aims to promote participation and creativity among people.
Requirements and conditions for candidates:
Anyone can participate in this competition.
Theme
The theme will be a reference to Basque culture (e.g. a representation of an expression, “Basque Words”, Basques and the Sea, Basque Sports, Basque cuisine, Basque personalities, etc).
Categories
There will be three categories
1. Best Short Film
2. Best Original Idea
3. The Spectator´s Prize
Film Presentation
- The films can be in Spanish, Basque, French or English, or alternatively, recorded in silent mode.
- Each participant may submit up to five short films.
- All work should be unique, unpublished, never have been awarded a prize in a previous contest nor should there be a pending award in another event.
- The films need to be 2 minutes in duration, including title and credits.
- All participants will transfer the public communication, reproduction and distribution rights of the presented works to EuskoSare at no charge. Once the competition has finished, we will show the winner films at the offices that EuskoSare has in Vitoria-Gasteiz (General Álava 5, 1st floor). We will announce the date of this event well in advance on the EuskoSare website. Entrance will be free.
Ways to Enter and Send Your Work
- 1) In order to participate, contestants must fill out the following application form.
- 2) When you have completed and sent the application form, a member of EuskoSare will be in touch with you to discuss posting procedures. You will be able to send your work to us via email or post.

Schedule

The invitation to contestants starts June 17th and ends July 20th at 12:00 midnight, Euskadi time zone.

The judges’ decisions will be made public July 31st on the EuskoSare website. www.euskosare.org.
- The public will be able to award the prize of Best Short Film
from July 21 to 30. It will do this through a voting system that will
be put in place that week. You can vote as many times as you like but
never twice for the same piece of work. The lines will close on July 30
at midnight (Basque time).
- We will not accept any work received by mail whose stamp is dated July 20 or after.
- In case of a tie, on-line voting will be extended one more day, thus until July 31st. The voting will be between the videos that are tied. The judges' decision will be announced the following day, the first of August.
Panel of Judges
- Of all the video works submitted, EuskoSare will perform a pre-selection and of this selected group the first, second and third place winners will be decided upon. The work that made it to the select group will be published in EuskoSare.

EuskoSare will designate a panel of judges comprised of three qualified people with broad knowledge in the world of Basque audiovisuals.

There will be no appeals to the judges’ decisions.
- The jury will award the first and second prizes.

The judges may declare null and void on one or all of the prizes.
Popular Vote
- The third prize will be awarded by the public through e-voting on EuskoSare.
Prizes
- The winner of the Best Short Film category will receive 600 euros.
- The winner of the Best Original Idea category will receive 400 euros.
- The winner of the Spectator’s Prize will receive 200 euros.
- All participants will receive an accredited diploma. A hand-written diploma will be sent to shortlisted candidates and a digital diploma will be issued to the remainder of the contestants
