The winner of the second category, that is, of short story written in euskera, is Maitena Laxague for her work “Ixtante Badoa” (“Ixtante is Leaving”), in which the author narrates the tale of a person form the Basque Country leaving it, and the impact of his/her choice reveals a reflection of this decision after thinking of all incentives in which, moving forward, will have to be conserved as memories.
Both winners will receive a cash prize of 500 euros and their works will be made available via Euskosare.
In regards to the finalists, in the category of works written in sSpanish, the most notables selected were “Inauteriak”, “La Habana”, “El Elegido” and “Refugiado”. In the category of works written in Euskera, the notable finalists were “Kukua and “Babel” . All of these pieces, were given special honorable mention by the judging panel.
This second edition of Micro-Relatos (Short Tales) has been put together, as it had been the year before, by Euskosare, counting a massive participation which has forced the organizers to grant two prizes as supposed to one, as it was identified in the rules of the contest initially.
Euskosare would like to thank all those who participated in the contest and would like to encourage you to keep working with your literary contributions in favor of euskara. Eskerrik asko!
